Corona Virus Outbreak

Update April 2nd

With the new Decree dated April 1str the Italian Government extended the closure of all non-essential production activities and a ban from moving across municipalities other than for “non-deferrable and proven business or health reasons or other urgent matters” until April 13, 2020.

We therefore confirm the extension of the closure of our production activities until April 13 for our plants in Italy.
We will update this advisory page where you will find the latest update.

Update March 22nd

Following our recent communications on the COVID19 impact on our activities and the Italian Government Decree No6 March 22, 2020 , we would like to share with you our latest update considering the ongoing situation.

With the new Decree no.6 of March 22,2020 the Italian Government adopted more stringent rules which include a closure of all non-essential production activities and a ban from moving across municipalities other than for “non-deferrable and proven business or health reasons or other urgent matters” until April 3rd, 2020.

Therefore we need to highlight that the stringent measures adopted by the Italian Government to limit the outbreak of the virus are now forcing us to acknowledge the block of our production activities until April 3rd for our plants in Italy.

Business activities not directly related to production as well as those related to sales quotation, order processing, project management, engineering and purchasing will continue as normal as we have implemented smart working solutions in all our departments and in most of our offsite offices.

Other OMB Operations worldwide are also applying strict measures in accordance with their local government directives. Our plants in Singapore and USA as well as our JVs in Saudi Arabia, remain operative.

We thank you for your understanding

Update March 19th
We have introduced in all our plants a series of measures ranging from smart working solutions for most of our office employees to the “fixed quota” access to the plant and the organization of activities at workshop level in multiple shifts: all this to ensure the necessary safety distance (“droplet distance”) between workers, and to avoid crowding common areas within the plant, like for instance machine shop, assembly & test area, canteen, changing rooms etc.
Though fully complying to these H&S guidelines, during this period of time we have also endeavored in all ways to minimize as much as possible the impacts of such an unpredictable situation on the existing purchase orders and contracts we have with our Customers.

On all our Italian operations however, despite all efforts deployed so far, we need to highlight that the stringent measures adopted by the Italian Government to limit the outbreak of the virus are now forcing us to acknowledge some unavoidable slowing down in the pace of our normal activities. This is mainly due to two reasons:

  • The inevitable reduced speed of our internal activities, which became necessary to abide by all rules and H&S instructions imposed by Italian Government and Health Authorities;
  • The reduction of workforce / working hours at some of our Italian and European suppliers), which – in some cases – eventually led to the temporary closure of their activities. As of today, we may say that our supply chain is largely intact;

To address these issues, we have already put in place several countermeasures and have started to implement mitigation plans that will allow us to continue our operations almost as normal in the coming weeks and to avoid any severe inconvenience to our Customers.

On 13th of March OMB decided to temporarily pause machining, assembly and testing activities till 25rd of March. Update March 12th

We are extending guidance for work from home to our operations in Texas as well following the closure of the schools next week in the Stafford area.

Update, March 8th
Following the Italian Government decree issued yesterday, March 7th, some travel restrictions have been introduced in the provinces of Lombardy where our OMB Valves s.p.a. and Vogt Valves s.r.l. plants are located.
Our plants remain open and functional as the travel ban do not limit work related travel and merchandise shipments.
OMB Italian management teams, as well as management in all other areas where we operate, are closely monitoring the situation as part of our strong commitment to ensure the safety of our employees whilst working towards mitigating any possible impact to our customers' operations.

February 26th
We understand that you may be concerned with potential risks of disruptions of your supply chain due to the Corona virus in China.
OMB Valves operates globally, with productions facilities in Italy, Singapore, USA and Saudi Arabia but we source nearly all materials and parts in Italy, EU, and USA with practically no exposure to China. We are anyway analyzing continuously any possible risk which could impact our supply chain and the shipments to our customers.
Coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in Italy as in many other countries.Current health warnings from Italian government departments are that the risk of infection is low.
Italian governments and responsible agencies have taken immediate protective measures including the quarantine of certain areas.
We recognize from media reports the raising concerns on the situation in Italy where screening is proceeding at higher rate than other countries, giving a misleading sensation of higher infection rates.
We would like to confirm that our and our suppliers’ operations are not affected. We have set up a crisis management team to review continuously all the risks, and define mitigation plans when needed.
We will keep posting any significant update on our website.
